Zakat al-Fitr (Firtrana)
A compulsory donation, designed to help those in need, enjoy the end of Ramadan which is marked by the festival of Eid al-Fitr.
Zakat al-Fitr is required to be paid by adults and to also include their dependents e.g. a family with two earning adults and 3 children, will donate 5 units of Zakat al-Fitr
Each unit of Zakat al-Fitr is calculated essentially to cover one meal.
Zakat al-Fitr is time sensitive. It needs to be paid before the Eid prayer to be accepted as Zakat al-Fitr. We encourage you to donate early in Ramadan.
